The Evola Virus
If you’ve been thinking this global communications colossus, as well as other -phobes of Pres. Gag, have been going all drama-queen-y in equating the current administration with Fascists, think no more.
Instead, know.
Know that L’il Duce‘s analog to J. Goebbels, one Stephen Kevin “Steve” Bannon, erstwhile head of the thankfully dead Andrew Breitbart’s word-puke machine (no link, because fuck them) and now P. Gag’s Chief White House Strategist, is a big, big fan of neo-Fascism’s muse, Julius Evola.
Yep. The New York Times points out today that Bannon has spoken of Evola glowingly in a past speech. ThinkProgress made the connection between the two as far back as December.
Evola, acc’d’g to the Times:
[I]s best known as a leading proponent of Traditionalism, a worldview popular in far-right and alternative religious circles that believes progress and equality are poisonous illusions.
Evola became a darling of Italian Fascists, and Italy’s post-Fascist terrorists of the 1960s and 1970s looked to him as a spiritual and intellectual godfather.
They called themselves Children of the Sun after Evola’s vision of a bourgeoisie-smashing new order that he called the Solar Civilization. Today, the Greek neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn includes his works on its suggested reading list, and the leader of Jobbik, the Hungarian nationalist party, admires Evola and wrote an introduction to his works.
More important for the current American administration, Evola also caught on in the United States with leaders of the alt-right movement, which Mr. Bannon nurtured as the head of Breitbart News and then helped harness for Mr. Trump.
Neo-Fascists, those who identify with the alt-right, and other scary primates call white people, “Children of the Sun.” And it ain’t got nothin’ to do with their tans.
Here’s a quote I dug up from Evola:
Everybody enjoys the freedom he deserves, which is measured by the stature and dignity of his person or by his function, and not by the abstract and elementary fact of merely being a “human being” or a “citizen.”
Cute, huh?
And another:
The entrance of the woman with equal rights into practical modern life, her new freedom, her finding herself side by side with men in the streets, offices, professions, factories, sports, and now even in political and military life, is one of those dissolutive phenomena in which, in most cases, it is difficult to perceive anything positive.
Women — who needs ’em?
Here, BTW, is a website that digs Evola: stormfront.org, whose motto is, “White Pride, World Wide.” And no, I’m not providing a link.
So, yeah, let’s not quibble any longer — the President of the United States and his people are a new breed of Fascist. They are defining the term in their own way and the next four years will provide us with the new dictionary definition of the type.
